LICA had been launched to bring together Lancaster's teaching and research in Art, Design, Music and Theatre Studies. The University asked us to develop identities and toolkits for both LICA and Imagination at Lancaster.
Before recommending any visual approaches, we carried out a full brand audit. This meant spending time on campus, immersing ourselves in the environment and interviewing key stakeholders face to face.
Our extensive findings brought up some key points. LICA needed visibility, visibility, visibility. After testing out concepts, we created a unique marquee - a hybrid of serif and sans serif typography.
An identity toolkit was provided to the LICA team for internal delivery and communications while the Imagination at Lancaster brand was successfully launched at the Design Museum in London.
A happy customer
“We were really pleased with the way in which Studio North worked with us on this project, particularly with the efforts they made to understand all of our aims, objectives and aspirations for LICA. We believe the identity created more than met with our requirements to present LICA as a forward thinking, innovative and aspirational brand”.
